CEREC Dentistry

CEREC uses advanced computer mapping software and CAD/CAM technology to custom fabricate most single tooth restoration you need in just one office visit. This allows you to have most ceramic restoration placed while you are here in our office, rather than having to wait weeks for your restoration to arrive from a lab. CEREC technology can produce many different types of ceramic cosmetic dentistry restorations, including:

  • Porcelain Fillings
  • Porcelain Veneers
  • Porcelain Crowns
  • Porcelain Inlays and Onlays

During the CEREC procedure, your cosmetic dentist will examine your teeth and determine what restoration is appropriate for you. After determining what the best restoration will be, your dentist will prepare your tooth by removing any decayed tissue, out-dated restorations, and reshaping your tooth to accommodate the restoration.

After preparing your tooth, a digital image impression of your tooth will be made. This is performed by covering your tooth with a tasteless powder and taking a digital picture of the tooth. This image is then uploaded into the CEREC computer, and your dentist is able to customize the creation of your restoration.

The CEREC technology then interprets the digital image and the dentist's adjustments to machine a small block of porcelain ceramic into your restoration. With CEREC technology, there are no temporaries, and no waiting for weeks while your restoration is created.

The custom machining of your CEREC restoration take about 10-20 minutes, and afterward, your dentist will permanently bond the restoration to your tooth, allowing you to have a beautiful, custom made restoration in just one office visit.
